Healing After Breast Cancer - Find Your Swish

These Pants Weren't Made to Hustle

So my Honey and I are in Greece. Long story short our kids are grown and he won an artists' grant as a potter to go and look at Greek pottery. WHEEEEEEE Greece!

Now we all have hidden talents and some don't show up until later in life. One of mine is I can pop out a sheet in one flick as I make the bed and get this...Even a QUEEN. I know, I'm thrilled with myself every time.

My other hidden talent is that I am amazing at setting up travel itineraries. So, between Airbnb and Scotts Cheap Flights emails, we had two amazing weeks in Greece. We went to Athens, Crete, and Santorini. We met amazing people. All big-hearted and hard-working with lively conversation over the most amazing dinners. And the women!

What I noticed straight away in Greece was that the women are amazing! Feminine, flowy, and confident. Celebrated in every size, women in Greece sashayed around in these flowy pants and all seemed to wear bright, red lipstick. I was not a lipstick wearer and I was in awe of how they all seemed to pull it off.

I had a whole two weeks off work and I was out of the country and away from it all. I was gonna live like the locals...including the red lipstick.

So, on our first outing, after we unpacked our bags, we set out for the "Pharmacia".

"Babe are you ok?" My hubby was all worried that I was sick. He's a sweetheart.

Nope, I was fine. I was on a mission for some red lipstick. Again, not a lipstick wearer but I was gonna give it a whirl.

The pharmacist seems amused as I ask him where the lipstick is and TADA!!! Easy Peasy! I was officially a red lipstick wearer! I applied it using the little pharmacy mirror... I mostly stayed in the lines.

Next, I was on a mission for those flowy, linen pants.

This is something I normally wouldn't be all excited about but the shopping was sooo fun and amazing. Trinkets and knick-knacks, and sandals and linen FLOWY pants everywhere!  Elastic waist mind you and the swish and swing as you walk. I was going to capture the carefree essence that these women seemed to emulate! Soooo

I bought three pairs!

So vacation right. It ends and you have to go home. I pack all my things. I've got my new pants on and I swiped my new red on my lips. How do you bring home that feeling though? That carefree mixed with the curious and dreamy. Away from home, you get in this different rhythm... a sense of ease.

We came up with a plan...meeting for coffee and such at the local cafe before work. Reminisce and Relax. This was lovely...for the rest of the summer but things moved on as they sometimes do and I got all back to busy with work and all the things. Back to normal.

I have a secret. I am not so slow and easy here at home. I run a little hot and zippy. Soooo the other day I was getting ready for work and I decided to wear The Pants. I'm hustling out to my car and if I didn't almost fall on my hinder. I tripped in my flowy linen pants!

These pants weren't made for hustle.

In fact, they whisper as they swish against my legs... Slow and Easy...Life is Good. They don't whisper you're gonna be late or hurry it up already. They say everything is gonna be fine. You're ok. You've got this. Slow dooowwwn Baby. Right?

SWISH Baby SWISH

Wanna meet me at the cafe? I'm gonna put on a dab of red lipstick, have a decaf, and ponder that part of me that was wandering the streets in Crete.

What will you ponder?

What would help you capture that moment and sneak it in your everyday? Not just for the weekend or beloved time away from it all.

But what if you don't feel like it?

Well, What if the act of it brings the feeling?
